BLOG #6: How can your major/career make the world a better place?

 

Hello everyone! How was your week?

Today i’m going to talk abour majors and how contributes to the world.

careers allow specialization in certain areas of knowledge and this is very important for the construction of society because as Thomas Hobbe said "knowledge is power" which means that knowledge allows us to act in a better way as a community. career affects in this construction (obviously along with the trades). This can be evidenced when certain areas of knowledge are prioritized (e.g. mathematical logic) over those of the social or historical area and we build an individualistic society that does not learn from its own mistakes.  

 

it is difficult to see myself in the future being so young and having so far to go. But I have always had a vocation of service and I want to put my knowledge at the disposal of the rest. 

Architecture tries to materialize the problems of the time and is dedicated to the study of the way we live. This allows you to contribute to a better society from different areas, whether from sustainability, history, public policies, valuing public spaces for the creation of social links, among others.

Anyway, I think that not only careers allow the construction of a better society, since knowledge can be obtained in multiple ways besides the university, every person in this world contributes in some way or another.
